10 of The Coolest Car Showrooms in the World
Car shopping is fun, but these showrooms make it even better!
10. Citroen Flagship Store - Paris, France
Obviously, the French designers were going to be as French in their design language as they possibly could when creating the Citroen flagship store in Paris. They did a rather good job…
9. MINI Pop-up shop - London, England
The good thing about MINI is that they’re all really small, obviously. This means the MINI franchise can just hire out an empty high street store, park some cars in the middle and there you go, a cool, quirky showroom with a huge footfall.
8. Sytner Audi - West London, England
Designed as the largest Audi centre in the world by Wilkinson Eyre, this is a 190,000 square foot showroom. A seven storey glass and metal structure, home to 117 showroom vehicles. Monstrous.
7. BMW Welt - Munich, Germany
Alright, the BMW World fancies itself as more of a museum than a dealership, but it’s a showroom nonetheless and prospective buyers that live nearby can order and collect their BMWs from this beautifully designed building. Very nice…
6. Mercedes-Benz Museum - Stuttgart, Germany
In Stuttgart, the home of Mercedes-Benz, is a mesmerising building in which lies some truly historic vehicles. The building itself is designed whereby you rarely have to go up steep stairs, you just suddenly find yourself on the top floor. It’s somewhat confusing, and cars like the Popemobile will distract you on your way.
5. Tesla Dealership - Knutsford, England
What is it with these tech companies? Open plan design, loads of natural lighting, LED strips and coffee tables in the middle of the dealership. No, it’s not an Apple store, it’s a Tesla dealership. One model, in the middle of the shop floor and loads and loads of accessories on the surrounding walls.
4. The Smart Tower
Another manufacturer making the most out of selling small cars! Like MINI, Smart find it nice and easy to be creative with their displays. A number of their showrooms feature a standing tower filled with Smart cars which get passers by thinking ‘how on earth did they get them up there?’ It’s good for business, probably.
3. Lingotto - Turin, Italy
Once the biggest car factory in the world, the Lingotto plant in Turin fancied itself as a showroom/ production factory/ race track. Customers would order their car, which would begin as a shell on the lower floor, and gradually work up the 5 storey building until it is completed. At this point, the new car will exit onto the rooftop test track - you might remember it from some film with small Leyland cars and Sir Michael Caine.
2. Autostadt - Wolfsburg, Germany
The VW theme park is a must-visit for tourists in Wolfsburg. One of the coolest attractions isn’t actually a roller coaster, it’s 20-storey vending machine which houses 800 cars that are fresh off the production line. Very, very cool.
1. Al Ain Class Motors - Dubai, UAE
Top Gear reckon this is the greatest super car dealership in the world, who are we to disagree? With probably the most outrageous stocklist on the globe, it’s easy to see why this showroom made it into our list. The video speaks for itself.
