Question... is the all-new Chevrolet Camaro a proper hard-core muscle car? Answer...
we need to consult our check-list to be certain. Item one is styling. The Camaro is in-
your-face, available as a coupé and convertible, and more striking than a boxer's hardest
punch. As such, we can 'tick' item one. Good stuff. That brings us to item two... power. The
Camaro has 6.2-litre V8 engine that produces 432PS when bolted to six-speed manual
transmission, and 405PS in conjunction with the six-speed automatic. These trims hit
62mph in 5.4 and 5.6 seconds, respectively – and rocket to a mind-melting 155mph. Good,
another 'tick' in favour of this predator. Oh, it is American too – which deals with item three.
Item four is image. The new Chevrolet Camaro is already iconic. It is helped, in part, by
its predecessors – posters of which have been blue-tacked to bedroom walls since Bruce
Forsyth was in short trousers. That is another 'tick' for the car, plus a bonus point for the
much-loved entertainer. Item five on our list is handling. The Camaro has been tuned for
European tastes and perfected at Nürburgring, so it sticks to the tarmac like a possessed
roadrunner. And what about item six... cost? Muscle cars should be cheap, and the all-new
Chevrolet Camaro Coupé costs from only £35,025, and the Convertible version starts at
£40,025. We have therefore ticked every box. The Camaro is a proper muscle car. Hurray!
