Audi have continued to maintain the strong family resemblance across its model range. The latest Audi A6 has the same single frame grille dominating the front end but the bumpers have been reshaped together with a change to the tail lights. The daytime running lights on the Audi A6 complete the imposing effect but they are only standard on the sporty S line models. The interior of the Audi A6 shows an increase in the chrome detailing and the materials have been upgraded.
Within the Audi A6 range there are two V6 TDI options, a 2.7-litre with 187bhp and a 3.0-litre with 237bhp. The mainstream petrol range opens with the acclaimed 2.0-litre TFSI engine in 168bhp form and that is followed by the normally-aspirated 2.8-litre V6 unit with its 217bhp. There is also an Audi A6 2.0 litre common rail TDI unit with 134bhp and the engine is also available in 168bhp form. The supercharged 3.0 litre TFSI engine with 286bhp can achieve 62mph in 5.9 seconds. All Audi A6 models, quattro and front-wheel drive alike, have revised suspension settings and there’s a choice of manual, Multitronic CVT or Tiptrinic gearboxes to choose from.
Economy and emissions are big issues at the moment and Audi has taken steps to ensure the environmental credentials of the Audi A6 are up with the best. The green standard-bearer for the range is the 2.0-litre TDIe model which pairs the entry-level 136bhp 2.0 TDI engine with longer gear ratios, a brake energy regenerating alternator and various aerodynamic tweaks to achieve an outstanding 53.3mpg. Emissions are a similarly healthy and highly tax-efficient 139g/km. Prices start at £25,250 to £77,730.
