The BMW M3 is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 that churns out 414bhp and 295lb ft of pull. It responds almost instantly in any gear from almost any speed, and sounds fantastic all the way to its 8400rpm redline. The BMW M3 is capable of 62mph in just over five seconds. There is a choice between a six speed manual gearbox and a seven speed M DCT Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic.
Inside the BMW M3 there are part leather sports seats you have to pay extra for full leather upholstery but it is sun reflective leather which is a plus when the roof is down on hot days. Other features include automatic wipers and xenon headlights, electric adjustment for the driver's seat and satellite-navigation, 18-inch alloy wheels, climate control and a CD player. The folding roof is a three piece unit which operates in approximately 22 seconds. The rear seat backrests in the BMW M3 convertible can be folded to provide additional luggage space.
Expect to average less than 20mpg in normal motoring. BMW claims 21.9mpg for the manual car and 23mpg if you specify the M DCT transmission but most owners won’t get anywhere near these figures, especially when they’ve become addicted to the V8 engine. Insurance for the BMW M3 convertible is a Group 20 classification. Prices start at £55,300 if you choose the manual version, the BMW M3 with the M DCT gearbox will add on another £2590 onto that price.
