Available in saloon and estate versions, the new model is longer and wider than the one it replaces. It's a much prettier, sleeker car; where the old model was known for its lacklustre looks.
A major feature with the new C5 is the emphasis on comfort. Unusually, Citroen has two suspension set-ups available; Hydractive self-levelling suspension - seen on the C6 - and steel suspension. Both are rarely offered together on the same model.
There's an abundance of safety features on this car too - including up to nine airbags. The C5 is the first in the range to have a collapsible pedal assembly - in the event of an impact the brake and clutch pedals retract into the floor to limit any injury to the driver's legs and feet.
A wide choice of engines includes 1.8 litre and 2.0 litre petrol and four HDi diesel engines fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter System, designed to virtually eliminate emissions. The C5 arrives in the UK early next year.
