The Ford Fiesta is England's best-selling car so far in 2014, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has revealed.
Ford registered 87,363 Fiestas between January to September, including 19,400 in September alone.
September and March are historically the manufacturers' most successful as they coincide with a new registration plate age tag.
The Fiesta is far more popular than the second best seller in England, the Ford Focus (57,189).
The Focus – once a best seller - is followed by the:
Volkswagen Golf (51,345)
Vauxhall Corsa (50,961)
Vauxhall Astra (39,875)
Nissan Qashqai (32,943)
Audi A3 (31,610)
Volkswagen Polo (30,423)
Fiat 500 (28,686)
BMW 3 Series (26,482).
The top ten best sellers are mainly compact - or reasonably compact - models with non-prestigious badges and modest price tags.
The BMW 3 Series is the notable exception.
Top ten sales account for 436,877 of the 1,654,328 cars registered in England.
