The celebration of the Ford Model T anniversary of one hundred years is to be held from July 21-26th in Richmond Indiana. The event will bring together the largest gathering of Model T’s since they left the factory. Seven hundred have been registered for the event from all over the world.
The Model T was the first low price automobile equipped with a 20-horsepower four cylinder engine with a top speed of around 45 miles per hour, it was capable of 13-21 miles per gallon. At the time it was described as a reliable car that was easily maintained and could withstand the poor and uneven roads.
Fifteen million models had been sold by the end of production and in December 1999 the Model T was named ‘Car of the Century’ by a panel of automotive experts.
