Four World Premiers For Volkswagen
Volkswagen will unveil four new models at Geneva next week. The first-generation Sirocco was debuted at Geneva almost 34 years ago and VW is bringing back the two-door sports coupe. At its UK launch in September this year, the Sirocco will feature the 2.0-litre FSI petrol engine with 200bhp, and prices are expected to start around £20,000. Also on the stand are two green models; the Gold Hybrid and Passat TSI Ecofuel. The Golf TDI Hybrid boasts a low CO2 output of less than 90g/km combining a 1.2-litre 75bhp diesel engine with an electric motor and the latest generation seven-speed DSG double-clutch gear box. It will be capable of 83mpg combined, and whilst running around town purely on the electric motor, it will be emission free. The Passat Ecofuel features a 150bhp TSI engine which has been converted to run on natural gas, consuming no more than 5.2 kilogrammes of gas per 100 kilometres (63 miles). Also on the stand will be an addition to the Bluemotion range; the Sharan MPV. It will join the Sharan line-up later this year with both good fuel economy and low CO2 emissions for a car of this size.
