A 20-year-old in Germany has crashed a £275,000 Gumpert Apollo belonging to his father. The supercar is said to be a “total loss”.

When the car eventually came to a stop, the driver’s door ended up more than 100ft (30m) away. Police investigating the accident are still trying to determine whether the driver was speeding when he lost control on a sharp bend near Brokdorf, just north of Hamburg. The driver was also travelling with a 19-year-old female passenger, both the driver and passenger are reported to have escaped the accident with only minor injuries.

The Gumpert Apollo has 650 bhp, can accelerate from 0 to 62mph (0 to 100kph) in 3.0 seconds and has a top speed of 225 mph (360 kph).
