SEAT is claiming sporty supermini class leadership in terms of the amount of power per pound with the launch of the Ibiza FR 1.8 20V T costing £12,195 on-the-road.

Powered by a 150 PS turbocharged 1.8 litre 20v petrol engine, SEAT claims the Ibiza FR costs £81.30 per PS against £90.63 for the Ford Fiesta ST, £93.50 for the Renault Clio Dynamique S 2.0 VVT, £96.50 for the Peugeot 207 GT THP 150 and £99.20 for the Citroën C2 1.6i VTS.

The model forms part of the FR Series, SEAT’s hot hatch range that fits in just below the Cupra models. The Ibiza FR is also offered with a 130 PS 1.9 TDI diesel.

Standard equipment includes: climate control, MP3-compatible CD player with ‘AUX’ input for iPods etc, steering-wheel mounted audio controls, electric windows, traction control system, sports seats and a trip computer.

SEAT says that CAP’s three-year/60,000 mile residual value for the Ibiza FR 1.8 20V T is 37%.
