Lewis Hamilton has the championship within his grasp after a dominant victory in the Chinese Grand Prix. Hamilton led from lights-to-flag in a masterful performance that extends his championship lead to seven points.
"This is another step towards the championship, towards my dream, and towards my team's dream. The team deserve it, they've worked very, very hard throughout the season,” said Hamilton.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen ran second most of the race. However, the outgoing champion eventually yielded to team mate, and championship contender, Felipe Massa. The result sees Hamilton's points rise to 94. Massa has 87 with ten available. Hamilton must finish at least fifth in the final race to guarantee the title.
Meanwhile, Ferrari are favourite to win the constructors championship. They have 156 points compared with McLaren's 145. McLaren's title hopes diminished when their second car, driven by Heikki Kovalainen, retired with technical problems. McLaren's reliability glitch leaves Ferrari needing just seven points to secure the constructors crown. The Formula 1 circus now heads to Brazil for the climax of a sensational season.
