The engine range of the Mercedes E Class coupe is made up of two CGI direct injection petrol engines and two CDI common-rail diesels. The entry-level E250 CGI doesn’t get the 2.5-litre V6 the name might suggest but a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that still manages to produce 204bhp. The E350 CGI is a V6 with 292bhp.The Mercedes E Class entry-level diesel is the 2.2-litre twin-turbo found in the E250 CDI. The Mercedes E350 CDI gets a six-cylinder diesel unit with 231bhp and 540Nm torque. Then we move onto the Mercedes E500 Coupe which is 388bhp with a V8 engine. In terms of speed this Mercedes Coupe is a match for any competitor topping at 155mph.
The Mercedes E500 Coupe has a seven speed automatic gearbox which is apparently a world first. The Mercedes E Class is meant for cruising on the motorway at 70mph the Mercedes E Class is almost silent in the cabin but the excellent suspension gives it great ease sweeping around bends at speed with confidence.
