The ŠKODA Yeti is a sports utility vehicle for a wide range of drivers. Its strengths benefit families, off-road adventurers, and those keen to minimise their environmental impact.
The Varioflex rear seats make life easy for families. It enables them to choose from 20 seating configurations to best suit the needs of the passengers and their luggage.
Rear seats fold flat individually and roll against the fronts (into a vertical position). The outer two also slide forward and backward and tilt. The middle seat – that can be used as an armrest and cup holder when flat - can be removed to allow the outer two to slide inward. All 3 rear seats can also be completely removed which leaves you with a staggering 1760 litres of space.
Cargo capacity is up to 416-litres rising to 1,580-litres with the rear seats rolled-up, which is comparable to a family estate. The Yeti's boot size defies its relatively compact exterior.
Optional extras include the: internal bike carrier, dog guard, roof bars and luggage net.
Yeti Outdoor models are available with 4-wheel-drive. They are distinguished externally by more rugged styling that includes black trim on the bumpers, side sills and mouldings.
The 4-wheel-drive system maximises traction by monitoring each wheel. Power is sent to the wheel - or wheels - that have most grip to enables the vehicle to proceed. If a wheel is struggling, it can be braked individually.
Also, the “off-road” button activates systems that make motoring safer. It is optional on the 4x4 S and 4x4 SE trim, and standard on the 4x4 Elegance and 4x4 Laurin & Klement.
It includes Downhill Assist that holds the car at a constant, safe, speed on slopes of 8 degrees or higher. Uphill Start Assist makes pulling away on slopes safer by restricting engine revolutions. It maximises traction and reduces the risk of engine/clutch damage.
ŠKODA Yeti Outdoor optional extras include the Rough Road Package. It includes: a thermostatic cover for the engine and transmission , a plastic cover for the fuel and brake lines, a reinforced brake fluid distribution system, and reinforced handbrake cable.
The ŠKODA Yeti Greenline II trim has features to minimise its environmental impact. These enable its 1.6 TDI 105PS engine to average 61.4mpg. Emissions are 119g/km.
Features include the lower ride height that improves aerodynamic efficiency, and low resistance tyres. These complement the start/stop system that switches off the engine while the car is stationary, perhaps at a red light. It restarts when the clutch is pressed.
Alternative engines include the: 1.2 TSI 105PS petrol, 1.8 TSI 160PS petrol, 2.0 TDI 110PS diesel, 2.0 TDI 140PS and the 2.0 TDI 170PS. Manual and auto transmission is available.
