Well, well, well... the Fiat 500 TwinAir has won a prize. So - drum roll please - this city car has now officially claimed the 2011 GreenFleet Awards City Car Manufacturer of the Year title. But why? For starters, its 0.9-litre two-cylinder 85bhp engine is very impressive. No, seriously – it is. This petrol-powered unit, therefore, propels the 500 to 62mph in a pleasing 11 seconds. It also averages 68.9mpg and returns up to 76.3mpg on the extra- urban cycle. That means its carbon emissions are only 95g/km, so twelve months road tax costs precisely zero. No surprise this efficient and potent power plant is also the current International Engine of the Year. It is fitted to various 500s costing from £11,600 - £15,500.

"Although a closely fought category again this year, the Fiat 500 TwinAir, with its low consumption, two-cylinder, clean petrol engine, was the resounding choice for the City Car Manufacturer of the Year Award,” says Colin Boyton, GreenFleet Marketing Manager. “Even though it is already an extremely popular choice out there, I know we will be seeing many more take to the roads over the next year, as businesses look for a maximum return on their fleet investment. Well done Fiat, worthy winners.”
