The new Jaguar XJ has won the 2010 Car of the Year award from Professional Driver magazine. This rates the Jaguar XJ as the top car for the UK's chauffeurs and Private Hire drivers.
Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK, said "professional drivers have very high standards and expect the best in their choice of car. The new Jaguar XJ has brought a bold new approach to the executive car market in the UK with its distinctive design, generous accommodation and impressive predicted residual values. Winning this important award isn't just about recognising how impressive the new Jaguar XJ is, it also reflects how competitive our new class-leading Chauffeur Programme support package is."
The new Jaguar XJ has three engines available with four trim levels. The range starts with the 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine which generates 238 bhp and returns 40.1 mpg. A diesel engine Jaguar XJ in basic Luxury spec is priced at approximately £52,500. The next step is the Premium Luxury followed by the Portfolio both of which can be specified with a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine. Top of the range is a supercharged version of the V8 which generates 470bhp which is only available in sport trim.
The interior of the new Jaguar XJ is ultra high tech; one technological highlight is the high definition touch screen display that can be split to allow the passenger to watch TV while the driver follows satnav instructions. Jaguar calls the cabin a 'state-of-the-art living space'. The Jaguar XJ has eight airbags as standard and the car also comes with anti lock brakes, traction and stability controls.
