Deep breath... here come the latest Kia Rio 3dr offers. Buyers can save £1,000 on the ‘2' 1.4 107bhp six-speed manual, the '2' 1.4 107bhp four-speed auto, and the '3' 1.4 107bhp six-speed manual. These now cost £11,495, £12,500, and £12,195 respectively. And breathe. Alternatively, the Rio '2' 1.25 84bhp five-speed manual has been reduced by £900, to £10,995. One more deep breath, please. The '1 Air' 1.25 84bhp five-speed now costs £10,045 thanks to the £750 discount - and the ‘1’ 1.25 84bhp five-speed manual has been reduced by £500, to £10,045. Well done for having the 'lung capacity' to read that lot.

The Kia Rio 3dr has strengths to complement these low purchase costs. It has confident handling, for starters, a reasonably comfortable ride, and is backed by Kia's seven-year warranty. That should avoid expensive repair bills, which often lead to a sharp intake of breath. This supermini has plenty of toys too, so even the basic trim has: Bluetooth, MP3 playback, electric front windows, and an electronic stability programme. The Kia Rio 3dr is also easy to live with thanks to its class-competitive 288-litre boot, and fairly spacious cabin. This complements its modern looks, maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and low running costs. The most efficient '1 Air', trim after all, averages 78.5mpg. And breathe.
