New Mercedes-Benz CLC
Mercedes Benz has unveiled a stand alone entry level coupe called the CLC. The CLC, which will be avaliable from June, will be aimed at young drivers and will include new features such as speed-sensitive steering, a state-of-the-art infotainment system featuring a colour display, Europe-wide DVD or hard-disc navigation and media interface. Aesthetic highlights include 18-inch alloy wheels, headlamps with black inner surrounds, sports suspension with lowered body, leather sports steering wheel and dark brushed aluminium trim elements. Offered in the engine line-up are four four-cylinder and two six-cylinder engines with power ranging from 122bhp to 272 bhp. The CLC also promises improved fuel economy. The CLC 200 CDI returns a consumption of 48.7 mpg which is improved by 2.4 mpg over the outgoing model. Six-speed manual transmission comes with all engine variants, although a five-speed auto transmission is will be available on the four-cylinder units. Sport models will also have gearshift paddles so the driver can select gears of the automatic transmission manually.
