What is it?

The MINI 1499 GT is a new, limited edition, lifestyle statement that pays homage to one of the brand’s most iconic cars; the 1969 1275 GT. MINI claimed it “recalls the entertaining drive, distinctive style and low running costs” of its predecessor which was among “the most affordable performance” vehicles of the period.

Engine and transmission

A MINI Hatch – in 1969 – typically had a 998cc engine. The 1275 GT badge reflected the increase in capacity to 1.275-litres. The New 1499 GT continues this tradition. Its 1.5-litre, 102hp, twin turbocharged, petrol unit complements 6-speed manual transmission, sports suspension and disc brakes. Expect 0-62 mph in 10.1 seconds.

The MINI 1499 GT 3-Door Hatch has striking exterior styling to ensure it - and you – impress family, friends and colleagues. Its John Copper Works Sport Pack incorporates: 17” Track Spoke black wheels, tinted windows, white indicator lenses plus special bumpers, side skirts, door entry plates and the split rear spoiler.

Midnight Black or Pepper White paint further optimise the exterior look. Simply choose which suits your personality. The former has gold stripes that run between the front and rear wheels, sit low on the vehicle and draw the eye. “MINI 1499 GT” is written within these stripes. The Pepper White paint is teamed with black stripes.

The interior is special, too. The John Cooper Works, black and red, sports seats have a leather/suede finish and prominent contrast stitches. Further features include the: black perforated leather wheel (red contrast stitches), piano black trim and dark head liner. Its standard equipment includes cruise control plus air-con.

The New, 2017, MINI 1499 GT 3-Door Hatch will always be rare, so it suits if you like to feel special. It it only available in The United Kingdom, for example – and production is limited to 1,499 vehicles between November 2017 and February 2018. Demand is “sure to be high”, the motor manufacturer said. Further features include:

  • 4 seats
  • 211-litre cargo capacity
  • Go-kart handling
  • Robust build quality
  • Classless appeal
  • Large, circular, central screen within the dashboard
  • Engine start/stop toggle switch
  • Compact proportions that make it easy to manoeuvre and park

Price and finance offer

The MINI 1499 GT costs from £16,990 on the road. There is a wide range of finance options, too.
