Renault has announced the UK price structure for the new Modus and Grand Modus ranges which will go on sale here in February 2008.
In each case there are two trim levels, called Expression and Dynamique. Both versions come as standard with ABS, EBD, front and side airbags, remote central locking, electric front windows, height-adjustable headrests and a 60/40 split folding rear seat (which, in the case of the Grand Modus, also slides to give a choice of emphasis on room for rear passengers and luggage).
For an extra £1600, the Dynamique cars get alloy wheels, curtain airbags, electric rear windows, front foglights, leather steering wheel and gearknob, pretensioners for the outer rear seatbelts, a soft-touch dashboard and higher-spec interior trim.
The range of engines is quite something. The Modus comes with 1.2-litre (normal and turbocharged) and 1.6-litre petrol engines and two variants of the 1.5-litre dCi turbo diesel. The Grand Modus gets all these, plus a third and yet more powerful version of the dCi. Manual transmission is mostly standard, but the mid-power dCi 86 is also available with Renault's Quickshift5 system and the 1.6 petrol comes only as an automatic.
Modus prices start at £9650 for the 1.2 Expression and reach £12,550 for the dCi 85 Quickshift5 Dynamique. The entry-level Grand Modus is the £10,250 1.2 Expression, and the range tops out with the dCi 106 Dynamique at £13,400.
