Prices for the new Renault Scenic undercut the outgoing model by up to £2,060, according to the French motoring giant. The entry level 1.6-litre VVT 110 Extreme costs £13,595 which (Renault claim) is also £2,045 cheaper than a comparable Ford C-MAX.

The Scenic is available in twenty-eight versions. Yes, that is rather a lot. There are three petrol engines (1.4 – 2.0-litres) and five diesels (1.5 – 2.0-litres). These generate between 86 - 160bhp and emit 130 - 184g/km of Co2. Buyers can also choose manual or automatic transmission and one of five trim levels.

Standard equipment includes an RDS radio, CD MP3 player, air conditioning, curtain airbags and connections for portable music players. Renault also offer specific upgrades or one of six 'option packs' which bundle together popular extras such as parking sensors and an electric panoramic roof.

The Renault Scenic can be viewed in showrooms from July 17, 2009 and pre-ordered immediately. Prices range from £13,595 to £22,295.
