The new fifth generation Subaru Outback will go on sale next month, the new model boasts an all new exterior with an upgraded interior and new safety technology.
The exterior certainly gives the Outback a more dynamic appearance, still rugged in looks with the bumper integrated hexagonal grille and hawk eye headlights. Bigger changes are inside boasting higher quality materials which give a more premium finish together with a new 7.0-inch touchscreen factory-fit infotainment and sat nav system. There is more storage and cabin space and it is more spacious for all passengers. Boot size is increased with 4.5% more than before and the new Smart Power Tailgate is a plus with a new side sill footstep for easier access to the standard fit roof rails.
Two trim levels are offered to UK customers the SE and SE Premium, they both offer generous standard specification. SE models enjoy features such as automatic LED headlamps and headlamp washers. Cruise control, Active Torque Vectoring plus 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and electrically-adjustable driver’s seat for comfort and privacy glass with the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment and satellite navigation system, audio, smartphone connectivity and a rear view parking camera.
New Eyesight safety assist technology
A new addition is the introduction of the Eyesight safety assist technology, this acts as second pair of eyes for drivers, the stereo colour camera technology monitors the road and traffic ahead checking for any potential hazard. This new technology has contributed to the Outbacks maximum five-star Euro NCAP crash test safety rating. EyeSight is fitted as standard to every Outback fitted with Subaru’s Lineartronic (CVT) transmission, and includes features such as Pre-collision Braking, Pre-collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure and Sway Warning plus Pre-collision Steering Assist and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.
