The Golf BlueMotion has made its debut and with all BlueMotion models, the Golf adopts a series of changes to drivetrain and aerodynamics in order to maximise the vehicles efficiency. It is powered by a highly efficient and refined 1.6 litre TDI common rail diesel engine. It can reach 62mph from rest in a respectable 11.3 seconds before going on to a top speed of 117mph. It does match the economy of the Polo Blue Motion which is capable of achieving a combined 74.3 mpg while emitting just 99 g/km of CO2.
Volkswagen have other Blue Motion versions of the Golf, the Golf Plus, Golf Estate and Golf MkV, the Jetta, Touran, Passat, Passat Estate and the Sharan which have already been launched.
The Golf BlueMotion will go on sale around mid 2009 and the standard non-BlueMotion will go on sale from January 2009
