New Volkswagen Golf GTI Pirelli
Volkswagen is celebrating the silver anniversary of the original Golf GTI Pirelli by launching a new version.
Based on the current Golf GTI, the Pirelli features an more powerful version of the standard car's engine - up from 197 to 227bhp - which cuts the 0-60mph time from 7.2 to 6.8 seconds. The car also has unique five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tyres and numerous styling changes, such as a Pirelli badge on the bootlid, smoked rear light lenses and tinted rear windows.
The GTI Pirelli comes in a choice of three colours - Reflex Silver, Diamond Black and Blue Graphite - and has half-leather sport seats that include tyre-tread imprints in the back and base, as well as yellow stitching that contrasts with the black leather on the steering wheel and handbrake.
Standard equipment includes climate control, ESP and six airbags, and the car is available to order now, with the first deliveries expected in June. Prices run from £22,555 for a three-door car with a manual gearbox, rising to £24,385 for a five-door with the optional DSG semi-automatic gearbox.
