Part of Peugeot's 200th celebrations include a redesign for the company's lion bonnet mascot, which debuts at Geneva in March and is the 10th lion in 150 years.
The emblem was conjured in 1847 by engraver Julien Blazer and adorned Peugeot saws and cutting blades. The lion was registered by Emile Peugeot on November 20 1858 before appearing on a Peugeot car in 1906.
Another change is to the company's cars and a new look will be pioneered by the Peugeot SR1 concept car, which debuts at the Geneva motor show in March. The Peugeot SR1 is "emblematic of the brand and a project for the future", says Xavier Peugeot, a member of the founding family who is the company's director of products and programmes.
The first of the style revolution will be the dramatic Peugeot RC-Z coupe which goes on sale in April priced at just over £20,000. It is thought the Peugeot RC-Z will rival the Audi TT. Another Peugeot car definitely going into production within the next two years is the Peugeot electric BB city car. The BB is an example of Peugeots more expressive new design. These are changing times for Peugeot that are geared to drive them back to the top of the European market.
