The spectacular Salon Prive Supercar event is now only one week away and on June 23rd RM Auctions will be holding its inaugural auction at the luxury car show. The sale is only open to ‘Quintessentially English cars’ and there are some fantastic rare British cars to choose from.
If you have £180,000-£240,000 burning a hole in your pocket then the 1959 Jaguar XK150 3.8S Roadster could be for you. One of only 36 such cars built, it is an original, unrestored example with matching numbers. Also amongst the auction oldies is the 1926 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Tourer, estimated value £100,000-£140,000 and the 1955 example of the Bentley's R-Type Continental Fastback which has an estimated value of £325,000 to £425,000. In the mid-50’s there was no faster sports saloon and this car has a top speed in excess of 120mph. The 1993 Rolls Royce Corniche IV Cabriolet is also up for auction, it is the final version of the original Corniche design and one of only 219 such cars built. It is expected to sell for £58,000-£70,000.
The Salon Prive has relocated to the spectacular Syon Park the London home of His Grace, The Duke of Northumberland. The event has also changed dates and has moved forward to the 22nd to 24th June which is a month earlier than the traditional July slot. This year for the first time there will be a late night opening and a ‘Pommery Picnic’. The ‘Pommery Picnic’ will start at 7pm and extend the garden-party theme into the evening, giving guests the chance to attend the finale of the event and enjoy the surroundings in an evening setting, with live jazz music. Specially-priced, £95.00 tickets will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy this evening experience, without also attending in the daytime.
