Kia Motors UK Ltd has smashed its previous best performance as well as recording a new market share record of almost 2.8 %.
Yaser Shabsogh, Sales Director for Kia Motors said “2010 has been another astounding year for Kia and its dealers, despite the ending of the Government-backed scrappage scheme in the spring. It is clear that good value and quality products have bucked the trend and that has allowed us to pass 2009’s record total of 50,636 vehicles by a very strong margin.
Kia’s total 2010 sales were led by the Kia Picanto which found 16,451 new homes during the year. The new Kia Picanto will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March; this new model will feature four all-new powertrains in 1.0- and 1.2-litre displacements, all boasting class leading CO2 emissions levels. This next generation Kia Picanto will be offered as a five-door globally but a sportier three-door body style will also be made available in the UK and European markets.
The European-built Kia Cee’d range recorded 13,408 sales last year and the company’s top five was completed by old and new Kia Sportage with sales of 5,618, the new Kia Venga with 3,796 units sold and 3,704 Kia Sorento models registered.
