Renault have launched the new Clio S which brings sporty style to this popular supermini. This memorable hatchback pays homage to its nineties forebear by resurrecting some 'not so subtle' design cues. These include the white front bumper insert, 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, and a prominent GT rear spoiler. Shy retiring motorists can also specify large white racing strips on the roof and sides.
The Clio S is available with a choice of three engines to tempt fashion concious urban cruisers. These are the 1.2 16V 75bhp, 1.2 TCe 100bhp, and 1.5 dCi 86bhp. None of these units are particularly fast, but the 1.2-litre TCe is nippy enough to hit 60mph in 10.6 seconds and reach 114mph. Average combined fuel consumption is 48mpg.
Motorists choosing to invest in 'Nicole and Papa's' favourite run-round can also choose one of four exterior colours. These are glacier white, pearl black, capsicum red and extreme blue. These limited options complement the upgraded interior which features S branded upholstery, leather steering wheel, and white instrumentation. Prices for the new Renault Clio S range from £11,209 - £13,458 on-the-road.
