The new updated SEAT Leon has had some exterior styling. There is a smaller front grille, a new rear window, smaller taillights and updated side mirrors. The changes are small but the car is cleaner in its looks.
The engine range has been updated; the petrol Leon FR has a new 208 bhp two litre TSI which is seemingly the same engine as in the new VW Golf GTi. The diesel model is a two litre TDI with a 168bhp. There is also a 158bhp 1.8 litre TSI petrol. Cars equipped with the VW group DSG dual-clutch gearbox now get steering paddles.
The most powerful car SEAT has ever made is the new super Copa. The Copa has been given a highly tuned version of the 2.0 litre TFSI engine from the standard Cupra which pumps out 281bhp. This results in 0.62mph in 5.6 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 157mph. It will handle better than the standard Cupra as the suspension and brakes have been revised. This limited edition will set you back approximately £31,000
Also new for 2009 is XDS, a self-blocking differential that works in tandem with the ESP stability control system. It senses if a wheel loses grip and applies the brakes to help recover traction and improve performance. The interior has also received some updates, new steering wheel, upgraded audio equipment and also the introduction of xenon headlights and daytime running lights.
Prices will be similar to the current Leon’s ranging from £13,000 to approximately £19,000.
