The Mini is the 'best used car buy'

Mini One is the UK's lowest-depreciating car.

The Mini is the UK’s lowest-depreciating car according to used car price guide Glass’s. The latest analysis by Glass’s of three year old vehicles shows that the Mini One 1.4 litre diesel and convertible are the UK’s lowest-depreciating used cars and the best at retaining their value. A three year old mini has a current trade in value of 63.2%. The Alfa Romeo 166 saloon is worth just 12% of its original price after three years. Runner up to the Mini is the dinkier Citroen C1 with an impressive 61.2% followed by the Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 107 placed fourth and fifth. These models not only retain approximately £4000-£5000 of their value after three years but they also qualify for the lowest levels of Vehicle Excise Duty. If you can afford a luxury car and are not affected by the credit crunch in at third place is the Ferrari F430 Coupe or Spyder which retain 60.9%. The Vauxhall Vectra and the Rover 75 1.8 T SE both near the bottom of the table for retaining their value may be bad news for the owners but great for a buyer, the price of the Rover new is around £22,700 and it is now only worth £3,300.
