The Toyota Auris has had a slight facelift to bring it more up to date next to the Toyota Avensis, Verso and Urban Cruiser. The front and rear have received big changes including new lights and bumpers and a reshaped bonnet and grille. The sporty SR Toyota Auris has received five spoke 17 inch alloys, a roof spoiler plus rear darkened privacy glass and headlamps.
The interior of the Toyota Auris has benefited with new soft touch material to the top half of the dashboard and a silver finish to the centre console, the instrumentation and handbrake have all been redesigned. Standard features for the Toyota Auris now include heated door mirrors, USB port and aux in socket for MP3 player and leather steering wheel.
Prices for the updated Toyota Auris start at £14,463, with five-door versions attracting a £500 premium. Toyota expects the mid-range TR model to account for 80 percent of sales in the UK.
The new Toyota Auris HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive) will go on sale later in 2010 and will be made in the UK. Although I doubt the purchaser of a Toyota Auris Hybrid will be too concerned by performance, at 97bhp, the car will ease you up to 62mph from a standing start in 10seconds, while potentially sending out carbon dioxide emissions of less than 100g/km.
