The Toyota iQ and the Hyundai i10 are both popular superminis. TheToyota iQ was recently awarded Green Car of the year 2010 and the Hyundai i10 continues to be Hyundai’s top seller as it is well equipped and nippy around town.

The Hyundai i10 is quite spacious for a small car and the quality of materials used for the interior are of a high standard. The Hyundai’s 1.2 litre engine is capable of 0-62 mph in 12.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 102mph. Safety equipment in the Hyundai i10 is also generous for a city car. Front and side airbags are standard as is an advanced anti-lock braking system and the 1.2-litre cars can also be specified with ESP stability control.

The Toyota iQ boasts extremely low running costs, the manual Toyota iQ is in the free road tax band, economy is excellent the 1.0 engine returning an impressive 65mpg. The 2011 Toyota iQ is equipped with the Toyota Optimal Drive 1.0-litre VVT-i and 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engines which have been revised to meet Euro 5 emissions standards. The entry Toyota iQ comes with 15in alloys, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, air conditioning and a six speaker audio system. All Hyundai i10s have air-conditioning and Hyundai’s appealing 5-year warranty. The Hyundai i10 Comfort model features 14" alloy wheels, electric door mirrors, remote central locking and front fog lights.
