Vauxhall has been awarded an impressive treble at the ‘Next Green Car Awards 2011’ with the Vauxhall Ampera winning both the overall gold award and the next generation award; the Vauxhall Corsa won the prestigious supermini accolade.
Both the Vauxhall Ampera and the Vauxhall Corsa were selected from shortlists of 27 of the UK’s greenest new cars all chosen for their environmental Next Green Car green car rating, level of innovation, value, drive experience and design.
The new Vauxhall Corsa for 2011 is now on sale and is offered in five new colours; Lime Green pearlescent, a Chilli Orange, Guacamole, Pepperdust metallic and a Sunny Melon. It has a new optional Touch & Connect multi-media system, which replaces the existing CD60 unit. Touch & Connect uses a five-inch touch screen display featuring both 2D and 3D maps for the navigation system, as well as a CD/tuner, aux-in, USB and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity. Prices for the new Vauxhall Corsa start at £9995. The Vauxhall Ampera has been received with much acclaim as the only electric vehicle able to run for up to 50 miles on its battery yet extend its range without stopping to over 310 miles, still on electric power. The Vauxhall Ampera is Europe’s first extended-range electric vehicle and is due in UK showrooms in early 2012.
