The Volvo V50 1.6D DRIVe is fuel saving and pollution reducing due to the Volvo’s DRIVe system. The Start/Stop function allows the engine to switch off when the car is at a standstill and there is a regenerative charge facility. This charges the battery as soon as the driver releases the brakes or accelerator while a gear is engaged, the alternator does not have to use diesel fuel as a power source to recharge the cars battery.
