The all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is more attractive than a beautiful woman covered in twenty pound notes. I know that sounds shallower than a new puddle, but the 'look' of a vehicle massively influences its sales. Styling, in other words, is a major buying factor for thousands of motorists - and the A-Class' look is a revelation compared to the out-going vehicle. That, a friend said to me, looks worse than an old bloke wearing Monopoly money.

So, let us consider the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class' visual assets. It has sculpted sides, for starters, making it look purposeful. This complements the bulging wheel arches, twin stainless steel exhausts, LED running lights, and diamond-look radiator grill. That brings us to the cabin. Here the feel is sharp and sporty. Have you seen the carbon-fibre look dashboard, the multi-function steering wheel, and the large screen? These look fantastic. So, if you buy MPVs on style alone - the A-Class should be on your shopping list.

Less certain – this far from its launch – is what other strengths the new Mercedes-Benz A- Class brings to the catwalk. That said, we expect this fashion statement to have solid build quality, composed handling, and a spacious cabin and boot. And we know for sure that some trims will connect to the internet, and an iPhone. But so what? Most people will buy it simply because it looks fantastic. Speaking of which, who is that lady with the bank notes?
