Olympic fencers must love the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Saloon. Why? Because this sporting predator moves even faster than their pointed blades. In fact, this monstrous machine rockets to 62mph in a sword bending 4.3 seconds, and accelerates to a armour busting 155mph. This is thanks to its 5.4-litre V8 engine, which sends 525PS to the rear wheels via seven-speed automatic transmission. This has four modes, including: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus – which in turn speed-up the gear changes for a sharper feel. Or, Olympic fencers can fiddle with the cogs manually via the steering wheel mounted paddle shits. What a remarkable machine - more special even than King Arthur's “Excalibur” sword.

The Mercedes-Benz 63 AMG saloon's chassis can also be set to Comfort, Sport, or Sport Plus. This AMG Ride Control System enables it to feel either supremely comfortable, or more nimble than a fencing world champion. Now, it goes without saying that this sword lover has every gadget sports professionals would expect – plus a few surprises. Highlights include the memory function that electrically adjusts the driver's seat, steering wheel, and wing mirrors to pre-defined positions. Perfect, if a 63 AMG is regularly used by several fencers. This complements the intelligent lights that swivel towards corners to better illuminate the road, the hard drive for music downloads, and its sat-nav for finding the Olympic stadium. But quality costs, so fencers cough-up £74,920. I hope they have sponsors.
