The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Convertible will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The car is powered by a 563 bhp AMG V8 engine which is capable of a top speed of 196mph and can achieve 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds.
Buyers can select either the standard sport-oriented suspension or a new Adaptive AMG Sport Suspension with three modes (comfort, sport and sport+). Each mode features its own shock tuning to alter the ride quality based on the type of driving desired. The rear-wheel-drive roadster also offers optional ceramic brakes for optimal fade-free braking under extreme conditions.
The soft top roof has three layers wrapped over a magnesium, steel and aluminium frame and opens in just 11 seconds. The fabric roof has been tested to destruction through 20,000 cycles on a test rig and is designed for speeds up to the 196mph top speed with no intrusive vibrations or wind noises.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Convertible is one of the beautiful cars with its long nose, running down to the big Mercedes-Benz badge sat on a single chrome strip across the air intake. Open the door, and avoid your chin as the gullwing doors open up allowing you to revel in the boy-hood fantasy of such an impractical door design.
