The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which is due to arrive in 2014, looks set to be so
stunningly attractive that motorists may go weak at the knees and pass out. Now,
whereas this may cause a few injuries it is worth the pain to see the compact executive
sector reinvigorated with this stunning design.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is modelled on the achingly attractive F800 style
concept, which is the blueprint the German manufacturer are following for their next
generation of vehicles. This represents a move away from the current, relatively boxy,
line-up towards more free flowing curvaceous designs. The result is that the new C-Class'
bodywork looks like it was poured over the chassis like a river of melted chocolate.
Details of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class' specification are sketchy, but gazing into my
crystal ball I can see several promising – albeit unconfirmed - prospects. These include
a high-performance AMG variant that may be faster to sixty than the speed of light. We
can also anticipate a diesel/electric hybrid version that will hopefully be kinder to the
environment than a Greenpeace manifesto.
The current C-Class is a highly accomplished vehicle, so it will be challenging for
Mercedes-Benz to improve the design and fascinating to see what they actually deliver
in 2014. However, based on what we see today the forthcoming C-Class should be a
magnificent machine. Now, come on MB – get to work and build the thing.
