Yes please – I would love a new Bentley Mulsanne. But surely you are not offering to buy one for me? This four-door saloon costs an almost unbelievable £220,000. For this price motorists could have a brand new BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, AND a Land Rover Discovery. Could even buy quite a substantial house in a nice part of the country. This Bentley must have some mighty features to justify its bank-busting price.

Perhaps its most important attribute is bolted to the front of the car. The 'Bentley' badge screams prestige. What could possible be higher status within the class? In fact, super- gluing this marque's insignia to an old skateboard would probably double its value. The vehicle's imposing presence further explains its hefty price. The Mulsanne is 5,575mm long and 1,926mm wide. Its kerb weight is 2,585kg. The 7 Series is far smaller and lighter.

The Bentley Mulsanne has an astonishing cabin. It features seventeen quality cowhides, and has a joy-stick inspired control for the central information panel. Inevitably, there are enough gadgets to make the Starship Enterprise look like an old mobile phone. Powering this vast beauty is a 6.8-litre 505bhp V8 engine, which is teamed with eight-speed auto transmission. These propel luxury loving motorists to 62mph in 5.3 seconds. Sufficient to say that the Mulsanne's handling and ride are masterful. Perhaps £220,000 is too cheap.
