The Citroen C3 Picasso Code is a fantastic new special edition. Great in theory, but there is a significant problem. This compact multi-purpose vehicle is called the 'Code', so learning its secrets is harder than solving the world's toughest quadratic equation. Perhaps we should visit Bletchley Park. However, before we decipher this family workhorse there are a few facts it is happy to reveal. This special edition, for starters, is based on the Picasso HDi 90 Manual VTR+. As such it averages a pleasing 61.4mpg, reaches 62mph in 13.5 seconds, and has composed handling. This five-seater also has a pleasingly spacious 385-litre boot, and capacity can be increased to 1,506-litres by folding the rear seats flat.

Now, praise-be we have found the 'key' that unlocks this car's secrets. The new Citroen C3 Picasso Code has far more toys than its less private siblings. It has a: refrigerated glove-box, automatic windscreen wipers and lights, a leather steering wheel, dark tinted rear windows, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. These extras are wrapped-up in four striking body colours: Polar White, Cherry Red, Belle Ile Blue, and Thorium Grey. Very nice too. This workhorse's final secret is that is only costs £300 more than the trim it is based on, so its sticker price is £15,695. That is far cheaper than a new Enigma Coding Machine.
