Bad news. The Corvette Z06 is rarer than an honourable politician. What a pity, as this monstrous coupé should be more popular than a parliamentary expense account. But why? It is tremendous value for money, for starters. For £66,403, the Z06 has a 7.0-litre V8 engine. Yes, 7,011cc. That produces 505ps and propels this mighty machine to 62mph in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is an eye-popping 198mph. These statistics respectively match and trump the Ferrari California, and that lump of metal costs a staggering £146,960. It also 'removes the parliamentary whip' from the £85,670 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS PDK.

Now, I know what you are thinking. The Corvette Z06 is not the most refined car. There is some truth here – but some parliamentary bills need polishing too. Despite its 'built to a price' feel, this muscle car is tremendous fun. Throw it into corners and you are guaranteed to come out smiling. And look at the styling – talk about 'in-your-face'. Plenty of people have Ferraris these days and the Porsche 911 is more common than political corruption - but the Corvette Z06 is guaranteed to stand out from the crowd. What a remarkable machine. It is for enthusiasts only though, this beast has left-hand-drive.
