The new Ford Fiesta Metal Special Edition has more strings to its bow than a prize- winning archer. It is based on the popular three-door Zetec-S trim, but has numerous enhancements to make life more exciting. Its 1.6-litre petrol engine, for starters, now produces 134PS rather than 120PS. That propels this arrow loving supermini to 62mph in 8.7 seconds. Coupled with rock-solid handling, this particular Fiesta feels extremely lively.

Anthony Ireson, Ford of Britain's marketing director, said: "This Ford Fiesta Special Edition gives the customer great exterior styling with an enhanced performance engine. Customers love that we create Fiestas with special features that prove to be real head- turners."

The new Ford Fiesta Metal Special Edition has numerous brightly coloured feathers to enhance its pointed arrows. These include its: sports tuning with lowered ride-height, chrome twin exhausts, black leather sports seats with silver stitching, dark alloy wheels, and the stainless steel scuff plates. These features are complemented by three striking paint finishes: Panther Black, Midnight Sky, and Frozen White. It looks menacing in black.

Now, let us raise the filthy subject of money. This Fiesta Special Edition is priced from £15,695 on-the-road. Quite a lot considering the range starts at only £9,495. That said, exclusivity costs and production of this super-stylish plaything is limited to a run of 1,000. It therefore suits those who want the practicality of a Fiesta - but in a rarer and more stylish suit.
