Am I having an 'episode'? I have to check, as it looks like the Ford Mondeo is over there, over there, and over there too. I have seen dozens of these workhorses in the last minute alone. I suppose that is hardly surprising as it is one of the best sellers in Britain. But why? For starters, there is model to suit virtually everyone. Buyers choose either the stylish five- door hatchback, for example, or the cavernous 1,728-litre estate. These come with various fantastic engines. As such, choose the 1.6-litre 115PS diesel to average a cash-saving 65mpg - or the 2.0-litre 240PS petrol to hit 62mph in a super-speedy 7.8 seconds. Oh yes!

The Ford Mondeo's equipment list has wide appeal too. Some motorists prefer basic cars and believe that fancy gadgets are simply things to go wrong. Fair enough, try the entry-level Edge trim. This has the essentials of life, such as air-con and power steering, but lacks what some claim to be unnecessary junk. In contrast, technology lovers can choose the top-spec Titanium X Sport. This has: leather seats, parking sensors, four electric windows, and cruise control. Every model also has: tremendous handling, robust construction, a reassuring Euro NCAP safety rating, and decent looks. Not bad for £17,795 - £30,695. Okay, but I still cannot tell whether I am having an episode. Must see my doctor.
