The Jaguar XJ Ultimate is perfect for lovers of cheesy pop music. But why? The stereo system, you see, has been created by Meridian Audio - one of the UK's leading producers of high-end audio and video entertainment systems. The result is that fans of the Village People can now strut their funky stuff via fifteen channels of amplification and twenty loudspeakers. These are positioned throughout the XJ Ultimate's cabin to ensure that everyone is within 'the centre of the sound field'. What a relief. It would be a shame for rear passengers to miss out on YMCA - not that there is enough room for the dance, of course.

Bob Stuart, Meridian’s Co-Founder, explained: “Cars do present unique challenges when it comes to acoustic reproduction - but I believe that these are the first car systems that truly mirror the memorable experience that can be enjoyed by an original musical performance.”

The Jaguar XJ is one of the finest saloons on the planet. The handling is inspiring, the ride supreme, and the cabin is equipped with everything one could need (excluding Village People CDs). Power comes in various forms, from a 3.0-litre 275bhp V6 diesel to a 5.0- litre 510bhp V8 petrol. The former averages a pleasing 40.1mpg, whereas the latter propels music lovers to 62mph in a CD cracking 4.9 seconds. Prices range from £55,515 to £94,050. Not sure how much pop CDs cost - but I would pay never to hear YMCA again.
