10 Cars to Look Forward to in 2016
We've listed 10 of the hottest cars we're anticipating for 2016. Let us know your favourite!
10. Mercedes C 63 Coupe
Unveiled at Frankfurt motor show, Mercedes’ high anticipated new C 63 is positioned firmly to do battle with BMW’s M4, Lexus’ RC F and the dated Audi RS5 Coupe. Fitted with what can only be described as a mouth-watering mechanical package, the C63 arrives March 2016 and starts at £61,160 - slightly more than its BMW counterpart.
9. Bentley Bentayga
Opinions will be divided in Marmite-proportions with the new Bentayga from Bentley, a car which the makes have promised will be the most powerful and luxurious 4x4 ever built. This is a daring move for Bentley, who have never produced a 4x4 in this scale ever before. The Bentayga certainly looks like a Bentley, with that famous front-end and muscular rear wheel arches, and we’re sure the interior will be typically luxurious too. But will footballers and business-owners flock to the new Bentayga and ditch their Range Rovers? We’ll have to wait and see...
8. Volkswagen Golf R400
VW are about to take the hot-hatch segment to the next level when they launch the Golf R400 in 2016. It looks set to boast a staggering 395bhp from a heavily revised version of the 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine you’ll find in the ‘standard’ Golf R. VW tech chief, Heinz-Jakob Neusser confirmed the new Golf in Spring 2015, but didn’t give any indication of price and launch date.
7. Alfa Romeo Giulia
Coming to an Alfa showroom near you in September 2016 is the new Romeo Giulia, and it promises to be a force to be reckoned with. Replacing the aged 159, the Giulia is loaded with a 3.0 turbocharged V6 engine, which takes the performance model from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. We look forward to seeing the gorgeous interior which comes as standard on every Alfa Romeo, ever. Perhaps this will be one for the real petrol heads to appreciate as well as those who want something different from the conventional Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C Class?
6. Aston Martin DB11
There hasn’t been any official photos published of the DB11 just yet, but we know the new model will be launched in 2016 and is said to derive many aesthetic cues from the DB10 made famous through the film Spectre. We’ve not got much else to report at this stage but the db10 will be a replacement to the excellent DB9 GT car that has been production since 2004.
5. Audi A5
Audi will be updating their 4-Series competitor, the Audi A5, in 2016 after 8 years of production in its current guise. There are no official images released just yet with this car, but we had to include it because we can guarantee it will be good seller. The A5 has proven popular among company car drivers due to the exceptionally economical diesel models and the sleek aesthetics which appeals to men and women of all ages. The new A5 is going to be a smarter, more upmarket variation of the current model, probably with a similar front-end to the new Audi TT and Audi R8. Certainly one to keep an eye out for...
4. BMW M2
Only 500 of these pocket rockets are heading to the UK and they come at a price of £44,070. This animal will be the smallest model available on their M-power lineup and with a 0-60 time of just 4.3 seconds and 370 horsepower, we just can’t wait. The performance figures will emulate those of the demonic BMW M4 currently on sale, but the M2 will prove to be a more compact package to compete with the Mercedes A45 AMG and the Audi RS3 Sportback.
3. Infiniti QX30
Infiniti will join the lucrative premium crossover segment in 2016 when they launch the QX30. Created “for a new generation of premium buyers”, the QX30 goes up against Audi’s Q3, BMW’s X1 and Mercedes’ GLA when it goes on sale in 2016.
2. Range Rover Evoque Convertible
Dubbed the world’s first luxury SUV, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible will go on sale in Spring 2016, with prices starting at £47,500 - £5,200 more than the equivalent hard top. The SUV, which debuted at Los Angeles motor show is expected to boost production volume by 10%.
1. Toyota Mirai
A Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicle which hopes to offer an alternative to all electric vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf. The Mirai uses a system which only pushes out water vapour into the environment. Hydrogen Fuel stations are still few and far between in the UK, but these vehicles currently offer much better range than any electric cars on the market. This is one to keep an eye on as the automotive industry seeks to tackle climate change.
