The new Polo is a car that most of us would be able to live with quite happily. It’s highly functional for everyday use and probably one of the most desirable small hatchbacks on the market. If you’re looking for cheap insurance, look at the 1.0-litre petrol model with 80 PS - in SE spec this model falls into insurance group 1. The lowest bracket on the chart. This model is available as both a 3 door and a 5 door and on the motorway can return up to 65 mpg. The Fiesta is available with a huge range of specs and engines and although the 1.1 litre Style is the cheapest on insurance, they’re all going to be pretty affordable other than the high powered ST hot hatch models.
