9 well-known cars discontinued in 2024

Audi's R8, introduced in 2006 and inspired by the 2003 Le Mans quattro concept, became a modern supercar icon. A more affordable and stylish alternative to Lamborghini and Ferrari, it gained a devoted fan base. The second-generation R8 debuted in 2015, maintaining its iconic design. Production ended in March 2024, with the final car—a Vegas Yellow model—rolling off the line in Heilbronn, Germany. Though originally slated to cease in 2023, a surge in demand delayed the end, with sales rising 49% in its final full year.

In May 2024, Bugatti completed production of the 500th and final Chiron hypercar, dubbed the L’Ultime (“The Ultimate”). Based on the Super Sport model, it features a dual-tone Atlantic Blue and French Racing Blue finish, paying homage to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show debut. The Chiron, the first road-legal car with 1,500PS (1,478bhp) and capable of exceeding 300mph, ends its legacy with this exclusive model, estimated to cost over £4 million.

The Chevrolet Camaro, an iconic American pony car since 1967, ended its combustion-engine production in January 2024 after six generations. Speculation suggests the Camaro name could return as an electric SUV, similar to Ford’s Mustang Mach-E. Meanwhile, Ford continues to offer its V8 Mustang, which is expected to remain available through the decade.
