Every Chinese Car Brand Available in the UK

Let’s kick things off with the most well-known Chinese car brand in the UK right now – MG. After being brought back to life under Chinese ownership, MG has quickly become known for offering solid, great-looking cars that cost a lot less than similar models from big-name European brands.

Right now, the MG line-up includes four electric models – and that number’s only going up as the brand grows.

And MG isn’t slowing down anytime soon. One of their most exciting releases is the Cyberster – a sleek, all-electric convertible that looks amazing and promises to be a blast to drive. It could be the perfect throwback to MG’s sporty roots – just with a modern twist.

Build Your Dreams – that’s what BYD stands for. You might not have heard of it yet, but it’s a huge deal in China. In fact, it’s one of the biggest car brands over there, selling nearly 2 million vehicles last year alone.

BYD’s first UK car is the Atto 3 – an all-electric SUV that’s going up against popular models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.3. It’s got an official range of 261 miles, loads of high-tech kit inside, and looks modern and sharp. Safety used to be a sticking point for Chinese brands, but not here – the Atto 3 comes with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot detection as standard across the range.

There’s more on the way too. BYD is expected to launch a smaller electric hatchback soon, designed to rival cars like the Vauxhall Corsa-e and Peugeot e-208 – perfect if you're after something compact and city-friendly.

GWM stands for Great Wall Motors – and if the name rings a bell, you might’ve seen one of their pickup trucks on UK roads before. But their new sub-brand, Ora, is all about stylish, premium electric cars. The first to land here? The brilliantly named Funky Cat.

If you’re unsure about the Funky Cat’s quality, here’s a fun fact: it’s built on the same platform that’s going to power the next-gen electric Mini. So yeah, it’s legit.

Ora clearly has the Mini in its sights – the Funky Cat is quirky, cool, and definitely built for drivers who want something that stands out. If you’re into bold design and modern tech, it’s one to keep on your radar.

And it doesn’t stop there. More Ora models are set to arrive in the UK soon, likely continuing the “Cat” theme. We don’t have all the details yet, but we’ve already had a sneak peek – and they’re looking seriously cool.

Maxus might not be a name you know yet, but it actually has British roots – it came from the old LDV brand and has been making electric vans for a while. Now, though, Maxus is moving into the world of electric passenger cars with the launch of the MIFA 9 – a fully electric MPV.

It’s gunning for cars like the Volkswagen ID.Buzz, but Maxus is going all-in on luxury. Think plush interiors, rear-seat infotainment screens, loads of high-end materials, and more tech than you’ll probably ever use.

The catch? It’s not cheap. While some Chinese brands focus on value, the MIFA 9 is priced more like a Mercedes S-Class – and at that point, most people would probably stick with the Merc.

That said, this is just the start. The platform underneath the MIFA 9 is likely to be used for future models, and those could come in at much more affordable price points. Worth keeping an eye on if you’re into spacious EVs with serious comfort.

Aiways is another premium Chinese brand about to land in the UK this summer. Their first model? The U5 crossover – ready to go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y.

It offers around 250 miles of range, a roomy interior, and loads of tech features. The price is expected to sit between £35,000 and £40,000, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The Skywell BE11 is now available — another mid-sized crossover to keep on your radar. It packs a solid 300-mile range thanks to an 86kWh battery, plus a tech-loaded interior. Deliveries are starting soon.

Its parent company, Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus, is a major player in China’s auto industry, so expect more Skywell models to roll out in the UK over the next few years.

Xpeng is bringing its G6 electric SUV to the UK soon. It might not turn heads with its looks, but it’s loaded with tech and could be a cheaper alternative to the Tesla Model Y.

Omoda, part of Chery Automotive, is making a splash with its stylish, tech-packed cars built for young city drivers. Their flagship, the Omoda 5, is a compact crossover that nails sharp looks alongside advanced driver tech and a slick, high-tech interior.

Omoda’s all about connectivity and efficiency, designed to fit modern lifestyles without breaking the bank — making it a solid choice if you want something affordable, reliable, and packed with features.

Leapmotor is backed by car giant Stellantis, and its T03 city car is gearing up to challenge models like the Dacia Spring and Citroen Ami when it hits the UK later this year.

It’s not about speed or power, but it’s set to be one of the most affordable EVs around — perfect if you just want a cheap, easy ride for city life.
