7. ŠKODA Citigo
The ŠKODA Citigo is a compact, city class, vehicle available with 3 or 5 doors. It is a low cost practical hatchback that – thanks to its proportions and tight turning circle – is easy to manoeuvre in town where space is limited. Power comes courtesy of a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine in either 60PS or 75PS form. Both versions can be teamed with 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission (with manual mode). Standard equipment includes power steering, a stability programme, anti-lock brakes, daytime running lights and a CD player. Citigo prices range from £8,275 to £11,120.
6. ŠKODA Fabia
The ŠKODA Fabia is a supermini class vehicle. Like the Citigo, its purpose is to excel in town but it is a more flexible package. It is, therefore, available with a wide range of engines including the 1.0 60PS petrol, 1.2 110PS petrol and 1.4 90PS diesel. There is a choice of manual or automatic transmission too. Furthermore, as well as hatchback it comes in estate form which is rare for the class. In this guise its strengths are more comparable with the larger, small family, class. Cargo capacity impresses at 530-litres rising to 1,395 with the rear seats flat. Standard equipment includes power windows/mirrors. The Fabia costs £10,600 to £19,140.

ŠKODA claims it has “outstanding space” including “class leading passenger head and knee room”. The Rapid is also available in Spaceback form that looks like a traditional hatchback but has a smaller boot than its sibling. Rapid engines include the 1.2 75PS petrol, 1.4 125PS petrol and the 1.6 90PS diesel. Standard toys include rear disc brakes and powered windows. The Rapid costs from £13,150 - £19,165.

The outer rear seats also slide forward and backward, and tilt. Furthermore, the rear row can be removed to create a very large cargo area. There are other configurations too. Engines range from the 1.2 105PS to the 2.0 170PS diesel. Yeti is also available in front/4-wheel-drive, has a windscreen parking ticket holder and costs £17,000 - £25,690.
