Stars of The Geneva Motor Show
We've listed the best cars on display at this years Geneva exhibition
10. Audi Q2
Audi unveiled its new Q2 compact crossover at this year’s show. The Q2 is the fourth ‘Q’ model on Audi’s line-up. The model is set to rival the likes of the Mercedes GLA and all-new X2. Initially, the range will get three TFSI and three TDI engine options, from 1.0 through to 2.0-litre; a 114bhp 1-litre TFSI three-cylinder, and two TFSI four-cylinders in 148bhp 1.4-litre and a 187bhp 2-litre – all of which are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, as standard.
9. Bugatti Chiron
The new Bugatti Chiron replaces the Veyron model but gets a pretty big boost in terms of performance from the 8.0-litre petrol unit. The quad-turbo W16 engine has been redeveloped to produce a massive 1,479bhp and 1,600Nm of torque from 2,000rpm
It costs a pretty penny, though – £1.9million, to be precise. H.R. Owen is said to be one of the only dealers in the country where you can purchase the model, however being a limited production model, with only 500 units being produced, you’ll need to be quick with your order.
8. Infiniti QX30
Infiniti has revealed the new crossover based on its recently-launched Q30 model. The QX30 crossover made its European debut at this year’s Geneva motor show and is set to rival the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA. The model will get a 168hp 2.2-litre diesel unit as well as a 208bhp-2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Offering an elevated ride height to the Q30, the model will be built at Nissan’s production plant in Sunderland. The Infiniti QX30 premium active crossover will go on sale in selected markets in the middle of 2016.
7. Skoda VisionS
The new VisionS concept from Skoda has previewed its upcoming Kodiaq SUV model. Positioned above the Yeti in the Skoda range, the concept is 4.7metres long and features a three-row layout – all of which get two seats. The production version, however, will feature a seven-seat layout. Skoda’s new line-up of SUVs are set to be rolled out across the next four years. Engine specifications have yet to be revealed but Skoda debuted a hybrid model at the show which features a 154bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine linked to a 54bhp electric motor, with a second electric motor to the rear axle with an output of 114bhp. With everything working together producing a total output of 222bhp is available.
6. Honda Civic
The new Honda Civic has made its debut. Reminiscent of the Civic coupe model launched in 2015, the model features sweeping taillights and a sporty, coupe-esque roofline and a sporty design similar to that of the new Civic Type R. When it goes on sale next year, the car will be powered by either a 127bhp 1-litre three-cylinder or a 201bhp 1.5-litre four-cylinder, both of which are direct injection VTEC turbo powerplants that replace the current naturally aspirated 1.8-litre unit. Either a CVT or six-speed manual box will be used.
5. Renault Scenic
The new Renault Scenic MPV has received a massive redesign, which is now more in line with the rest of the Renault family. The model gets new 20-inch alloy wheels, while the overall height of the car has been lowered. Inside gets a three-dashboard screen set-up, with the top of the range trims getting an 8.7-inch display with R-Link 2 technology. The overall width of the new model is slightly wider than the outgoing car, meaning that boot space has increased by 17-litres – resulting in 572-litres overall. Powertrains will be shared with that of the Megane model.
4. DS E-Tense
The new DS E-Tense concept is a stunner and was quite the showstopper at Geneva – after the Chiron, of course. The all-electric model features a concept-like design, with many futuristic styling points a design, which takes into account aerodynamics. It has a low and wide stance and features
In its concept form it gets a camera instead of a front windscreen. Its powertrain consists of an electric motor with a three-speed transmission, complete with torque adjustment technology. It is said to have a 0-62mph of 4.5seconds and a top speed of 155mph, while still boasting a 193-mile range. Plans for production are being kept hush, hush all we can do now is hope.
3. Maserati Levante
After a disappointing no-show at last year’s Frankfurt motor show, Maserati finally showcased its Levante SUV at the 2016 Geneva motor show.
Engine options include two petrol units and one diesel. At the top of the range is a 3.0-litre 424bhp petrol engine, which has a top speed of 164mph and can sprint to 62mph from start in 5.2seconds, with efficiency of 25.9mpg and emissions of 253g/km of CO2. There is also a 345bhp 3.0-litre petrol unit. The 3.0-litre diesel option produces 271bhp and 442lb ft of torque, returning 39.2mpg and emitting 189g/km of CO2.
2. Ford Vignale
Ford is adding to its current Vignale range (made up of only the Mondeo) with the launch of the Edge Vignale and S-Max Vignale. Ford has strengthened the brand’s premium range with the two launches, bringing its total line-up to three models. The Edge Vignale made its debut in Ametista Scura Brown, and also in Vignale White Platinum, while the S-Max Vignale was shown in an exclusive Milano Grigio colour and Vignale White Platinum.
A concept of the upcoming Ford Kuga Vignale model also made an appearance.
1. Fiat Tipo
The new Fiat Tipo builds on the reputation of the name Tipo, which was first used by the brand over a century ago. Receiving a completely new look, the model comes in hatchback and estate guises, with a saloon variant expected in the UK. The model will be powered by a 118bhp 1.6-litre Multijet diesel engine, a 94bhp 1.3-litre diesel and 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engines. The Tipo will not receive a MultiAir turbo petrol option.
Reports state that left-hand drive models will arrive in the middle of this year, but due to delays in a right-hand drive conversion, the car won’t be coming to the UK until late next year.
