The Top Selling New Cars on the Used Car Market
Find out how much nearly new models of the some of the best selling new cars are going for...
10. MINI
The latest model of the MINI hatch has been on sale now for since 2013 which means there are plenty floating around on the used car market. Typically, MINIs are some of the best hatchbacks for holding their value and that’s still true for the current model. There are some models available for under £9,000 but the best models on Regit are still upwards of the £12,000, which is exceptional considering brand new, entry-level examples start from £16,195. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the MINI hatchback is the 8th best-selling car in the UK in 2019.
9. Mercedes-Benz A-Class
The A-Class is another vehicle that has benefitted well from the ultra-competitive finance deals available from Mercedes-Benz. It’s also the 5th best selling car overall in 2019 and the number 1 best selling ‘premium’ hatch, depending on whether you consider the Volkswagen Golf to fall under the elusive ‘premium’ bracket. Currently, 3-year-old models are sitting between £13,000 and £15,000 with less than 30k miles on the clock. There are currently over 700 models for sale on Regit so we’re sure you’ll find the one for you.
8. Ford Kuga
It’s no secret that we love our Fords in the UK and we have done for a good while. The Kuga, which is their mid-size SUV, is Ford’s third most popular car in their lineup and it’s easy to see why. The Kuga oozes charisma and character which makes it a favourable car for children. It’s also extremely safe and has agreeable running costs too, which all adds up to make the Kuga a top-notch family car. There’s currently over 600 Kugas for sale on Regit with less than 30k miles on the clock and under 3 years old and prices for these cars are starting at just over £11,500 dependent on the trim levels.
7. Volkswagen Polo
The Polo continues to be a best selling brand new car in the UK for 2019 and that’s thanks to a new model bringing fresh life to the already popular Polo range. The 1.0 TSI petrol engine is going down a storm as motorists are getting over 60mpg from their Polos and these are the ones to look out for on the used market. Looking at models under 3 years old and with less than 30,000 miles, you can expect to pay between £9,00 and £9,500 with approved dealers on Regit.
6. Toyota Yaris
When it comes to small car sales in the UK, the Yaris has lagged behind mainstream favourites such as the Fiesta, Corsa and Polo. But the option of hybrid power makes Toyota’s hatchback well worth a look if you're keen on low emissions and low running costs. This Yaris is now the 9th top seller in 2019. Currently, 3-year-old hybrid models are starting from around £11,000 with less than 30k miles on the clock. There are currently over 150 hybrid models for sale on Regit so we’re sure you’ll find the one for you. Non-hybrid 2016 models start from around £7k.
5. Vauxhall Corsa
Year-to-date in 2019 The Corsa is the second best selling car overall and it has been in the top 5 for over 5 years. Finance and company car deals on the early models have expired now so there is plenty to choose from on the used car market. The Corsa has depreciated slightly more than its closest competitor, the Ford Fiesta, which is good news for people looking at the pre-owned market. If you’re looking for something under 3 years old with low mileage then expect to pay around £6,000 and £7,000.
4. Nissan Qashqai
The number one selling SUV on the market for 2019 is still the Nissan Qashqai. This is not hugely surprising because it has dominated the SUV market for a good few years now and it’s easy to see why. In 2017 a facelift was introduced which incorporated a more up to date infotainment system, more pleasant styling and slight interior improvements. This has caused a little drop in the value of the older models. 3-year-old examples of the Qashqai with low mileage can be had from £10,950 now which is a big saving on the current £19,995 starting price of the new model.
3. Ford Focus
Sitting as Fords second best selling family hatchback on the market, the Ford Focus has only been on sale in its current form (Fourth Gen) for a matter of months and it’s currently flying off the shelves, just like the older model which was on sale from 2011. The Third Gen is the one to keep an eye on in the used market though as there are currently countless examples to choose from. You can expect to pay between £9,500 and £12,500 for a low mileage model from 2016. These come best served with the famous Ecoboost engines which provide effortless power and excellent fuel economy.
2. Volkswagen Golf
The top-selling family hatchback on the market for 2019 is the Volkswagen Golf. The current ‘mark 7’ Golf has been on sale since 2012, but there was a facelift in 2016 which means that pre-facelift models suffered a hit in depreciation. Bad news for owners but good news if you’re a prospective buyer looking for a nearly new model. There are currently loads of examples on Regit for 2016 models starting from around £10,000 - which is only marginally more expensive than the Polos of the same age.
1. Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta is the number one selling car in the UK on the new market for 2019, and it’s been number one for about a decade now. This means two things. Firstly, it’s obviously a pretty good car because everyone seems to fall in love with them and, secondly, there’s absolutely bucket loads of them on the used car market. 2016 models with around 20,000 miles are coming in between £6,000 and £7,500 but if you’re looking for top spec models then you will still find examples for under the £9,000 mark.
